Samantha Schaefer

Samantha Schaefer received her BA at WMU and her MFA in Poetry as a Follett Fellow at Columbia College Chicago. She is currently knee-deep in the beautiful deep crotch of the south in pursuit of her PhD at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. She has worked as co-editor of  Black Tongue Review, on the editorial team at Court Green, and as editorial intern at Yoga International. She has attended as Writer in Residence at Brushcreek Foundation for the Arts as well as Working Writer in Residence at The Poetry Farm. Her poetry has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes—and won one. Her work made finalist for GASHER Press’s 2020 First-Book Scholarship and finalist for the Sexton Prize in Poetry for first collection. Her work has appeared, or is forthcoming in TYPOColumbia Poetry ReviewGhost Ocean MagazinePigeon Pages NYC, Awakened Voices, Brill | Sense Publishers Anthology, Science-Based Vulnerability: Scientists and Poets #RESIST, and Poetry Salzburg Review.
