UCHE NDUKA is a poet, essayist, and collagist. Whether from the pulsing sidewalks of Lagos, on the cobbled streets of Bremen, the canal-matrixed Amsterdam, the cupola-tinged Bucharest, or frenetic New York City, this prolific poet has intrigued and solaced readers and listeners worldwide with his words and music. A NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Poetry, his published poetry books include Scissorwork (Roof Books, New York, 2022), Fretwire (Griots Lounge, Canada ) Living In Public (Kristiania Collective, 2018), Facing You (City Lights, 2020), Sageberry 1 (Amab Books, Minna, 2017), Nine East (Sentinel Publishers, London, 2013), Ijele (Overpass, New York, 2012), eel on reef (Akashic Books, New York, 2007), Chiaroscuro (which won the Association of Nigerian Authors Poetry Prize for 1997; Yeti Press, Bremen), If Only The Night (Sojourner Press, Amsterdam, 2002), Heart’s Field (Yeti Press, Bremen, 2005), Second Act (Journoblues, Lagos, 1994), Flower Child (Update Communications, Lagos, 1988). His writing has been translated into German, Finnish, Italian, Turkish, Romanian, Arabic, Serbo-Croat, Dutch. Nduka taught  African Literature at the University of Bremen for seven years. He has given lectures and readings at universities, clubs, galleries, colleges, festivals, living rooms in Berlin, Nsukka, Leiden, Hannover, Ijebu-Igbo, Frankfurt, Ibadan, London, Benin City, Paderborn, Lagos, Heidelberg, Bucharest, Amsterdam, New York City, Paris, Cape Town, Hamburg, Santa Fe, Amherst, Bern and other places. He presently lives and teaches  at CUNY-Queens College and Eugene Lang New School in New York City.
