Paul Hoover has published 16 poetry books, most recently O, and Green: New and Selected Poems (2021) and The Book of Unnamed Things (2019), both with MadHat Press. Editor of two editions of Postmodern American Poetry: A Norton Anthology and the annual poetry magazine, New American Writing, he has published the collection of literary essays, Fables of Representation (University of Michigan Press, 2004, and the Vietnam-era novel, Saigon, Illinois (Vintage Contemporaries, 1988). His translations include, with Maria Baranda, The Complete Poems of San Juan de la Cruz (Yale University Press, 2021) and, with Maxine Chernoff, Selected Poems of Friedrich Hölderlin (Omnidawn, 2008). He teaches in the Creative Writing Department of San Francisco State University.
