Sam Gwynn was born in Eden, NC, in 1948. He graduated from Davidson College and the University of Arkansas. He retired from Lamar University in 2017 as University Professor of English. He taught at Lamar for 40 years and was Poet-in-Residence. He has written or edited over 20 books. His most recent collection of poetry is Dogwatch.
