Event Type

In this hybrid session–- part workshop, part round-table discussion–- award winning VISPO artists, Octavio Quintanilla and Jen Sperry Steinorth, will discuss the ways an interdisciplinary practice can liberate stuck, stifled or marginalized voices, leading to artistic breakthroughs for both established writers and students. The presentation will include practical approaches with tips, prompts, texts and other resources for those already working in the field as well as curious souls looking to invigorate their writing and/or teaching practice. We will also discuss the aesthetic and pedagogical principles that support an interdisciplinary approach to writing and reading, principles that can be useful in pitching interdisciplinary classes, projects, “readings” and other happenings to conventional institutions.
