In a time of collective crisis, as global climate change converges on planet earth, and a major extinction event is underway, we will consider what "animal" represents in our cultural imagination. Animals as messengers who travel between worlds and as instigators of future worlds appear in our poetry. How do animals signify transformation and point to alternative ways of thinking through crisis and death? How and why do humans deny and or forfeit their animal allegiances? How can poetry find the language and thinking necessary to bridge the human animal with all other animals?
